Musing 67
As the quarter comes to a close, I’m both excited and dismayed at my progress on my goals for the year.
On the “write/publish something here 300 times”, it’s going great. A little behind as my discipline was setting in and had some early mismanagement of time meant I missed a few more days than I could really afford.
On the other hand, while I’ve been consistent in exercising (barring 1 week where i took a break because I hurt my back), that discipline feels mostly unrewarded. While I’ve been toning my musculature in several places noticeably, my core goal is to lose 40 lbs this year. And my weight has been stubbornly fluctuating.
While I’m not yet super concerned, as I’m more concerned about ensuring my habits are sustainable, it is still discouraging to see me get results, but not the ones I wanted.
But in the midst of that, I am thankful to God for the progress I’m seeing. While the additional load each day does have a mental/physical cost, I’m seeing the increase in discipline begin to reflect in everything. And as the year progresses, I hope that I don’t lose heart as I rebuild my discipline even if I don’t see the results I want.
There’s a lot to do, and only so many hours. May I not forget though that it is all to the glory of God alone!
