Musing 141

Today’s Scripture reading was Jeremiah 13-15. One of the things that makes sin so devastating is that there comes a point when the signs of sacrifice will no longer be accepted by God.

While a distant thought for us, that would’ve been essentially telling people “there is no more forgiveness for you”. In the midst of judgement on all, such is a terrifying thought - to face God’s wrath with nothing to avert it.

In this day when sin is celebrated, may we remember that there is a point of no return. When instead of bringing repentance through the preaching of the Word, God instead uses it to harden people and so bring more judgement upon themselves.
