Musing 131

We were designed for work, and there are fewer ways to avoid trouble than to be busy with the things that God gave to us to do.

Whether that’s our vocation, family work, house maintenance, or whatever other responsibilities we may have, we are not designed to just lay around.

We were given 6 days for that work, and in modeling God Himself, we are to rest 1 day to keep that day holy.

Abraham Kuyper rightly pointed out that in keeping the Sabbath dedicated to Himself, God sets Himself over our work. Reminding us that yes, work matters, but God is above it.

As we prepare our hearts for worship this evening, may we remember that basking God’s holiness and majesty is a blessing far greater than the earthly merit and accolade we may earn.
