While I didn’t intend to muse on Jeremiah this much, there was something about Jeremiah 29 that struck me.

The letter to the exiles feels very much like an OT version of the pastoral epistles. Specifically in the advice it gives to the people.

Jeremiah encourages the exiles to live a normal life where you find yourself. Have kids, marry, do your job, seek the good of the people around you. Similarly, the pastorals encourage normative praying for our leaders so that we can live quiet and godly lives.

Now, I don’t think this is indicative of Paul specifically referring to Jeremiah 29 here. Pretty much all of Paul’s epistles contain tha same life application of theology.

But it is a good reminder for a people who now dream of getting internet attention from hundreds or thousands that both OT/NT say the same - live quietly.

Should we be active in evangelism? Of course. But the world should hate us for the gospel’s sake. Not because we ourselves are doing condemnable things.
