Musing 94
Hopefully one last light post before I can get back to my musings on Galatians.
But the last couple weeks, it’s been more and more fun to see the wildly diverging ways the world is going.
On the one hand, AI companies are espousing the “too strong to release” models, while what actually gets released to the public is increasingly . .. useless at best, actively detrimental at worst, right at the moment that they’re jacking up the prices.
The shock when corporations see their first bills will be delicious when Nvidia and others are already saying “humans are cheaper than AI” . . . when AI is the “cheapest” it’s been.
On the other - there’s been stunning developments in medicine, biotech, physics, and math that make the cool sci-fi stuff I saw on Star Trek as a kid seem within reach.
And none of this looks at the political front, which . . . for even my right wing friends, feels increasingly depressing. Which is a testimony that this world, though we may always be seeking its good, is not our home. We are but pilgrims on a pitstop to a better land. I’ve mentioned my increased anxiety in these recent years, but the blessing is in drawing near to my God. While I struggle mightly at times against my sin and the weight it puts on me, knowing that the One who is in control is not surprised is a comfort.
